Our Painting Cuba! program tonight at the Art Museum was amazing. Kathryn and Howie Clark presented a power point from their February trip to Cuba where Kathryn painted and Howie played his banjo. Howie kicked off the evening by playing "I'll see you in C -U - B -A" written by Irving Berlin. Oil paintings of scenes from the photos gave us the opportunity to experience their trip. Thanks Kathryn and Howie!

Terry Miura
Terry Miura is an oil painter whose work came to my attention a year or so ago.
He paints cityscapes, landscapes, and figures. The above is called "Chicago Drizzle."
website: www.terrymiura.com
His blog is really excellent and should appeal to anyone interested in the painting process, regardless of media. http://terrymiura.blogspot.com/ Scroll down to the March post which details how he decided to paint over a finished (and exhibited) painting. Scroll down to the February posts, first for composition decisions on a landscape painting, then for one on painting snow.

May News Painting Cuba!
Mark your calendars for the May 17th program with Kathryn Clark!
Painting Cuba! From Kathryn:
Painting Cuba! From Kathryn:
It will be held in the Mickey Shook Room of the Lafayette Art Museum on May 17th, from 7-8:30pm. I'll show photos of my Cuba trip along with all the plein air watercolors, drawings done there and the five studio oil paintings created after I returned. One of those oils has been accepted in the Indianan NOW exhibition at the museum. Hopefully, there will also be Cuban background music from CD's we purchased from the four piece bands we heard play. My husband, Howie will help with set up and will probably join me in the presentation.
