Thank you for visiting Emerald Hill Textiles and welcome to the site. The works which can be viewed here were designed and created with care by Laura Ricks, a Lafayette, Indiana artist. The main body of her work and true creative passion lies in wool and wet felting. She loves to add needle felted and sewn details to many of her pieces, which gives them an extra level of definition, depth and drama. She loves creating natural scenes and landscapes inspired by her rural Indiana surroundings and occasionally by her travels. She is a co-owner of Artists’ Own Cooperative Artist Gallery and has begun teaching her craft in online tutorials available at feltingtutorials.com.

One of my greatest joys is to hear how a painting of mine has impacted a viewer. Sometimes they're mesmerized. Occasionally, some whimsy in the painting will provoke a giggle. Often times though, it's a sense of serenity or peace.
When I paint, my goal is to create something that may provide a momentary rest from the constant barrage of information and sensory overload we have come to accept as “normal”
