Watercolor on yupo
An upcoming program for WVWS will focus on yupo. Becky Brody will demonstrate her techniques.
An artist-friend of a friend of mine also enjoys working on yupo. Judy Evenson lives in Northern California. Her blog is http://judyevenson.blogspot.com/ Type yupo in the search box (upper left) and it will pull up the posts with paintings on yupo.
You'll have to go there to see her work. I don't want to violate copyright by posting one of her paintings here. So go see her blog! And then come to the program scheduled for Tuesday, September 17!

Wowed by an Awesome Master Watercolor Artist
If you want to see a master watercolor artist at work, click on this link. You see Australian artist Joseph Zbuvic painting a wet street scene that takes your breath away. It's worth the few minutes it takes to watch.

WVWS Paint Out and July Meeting
Celery Bog Plein Air Painting
July 13, 2013
9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
We will meet at the Nature Center and go off to our favorite spots to paint. There are butterfly gardens, woodland paths, the bog, the prairie, etc. Bring a sack lunch so we can all meet at 12:30 p.m. for lunch and possibly to share your painting.
If you want to arrive earlier, feel free. I will probably arrive by 8 a.m since I prefer the cooler temperatures.
We will also have our regular meeting at TAF on Tuesday, July 16 at 7 p.m. with a business meeting beginning at 6:30 p.m. Committee members will present their reports and decisions for the future of WVWS.
Bring any zentangles you may have done to that meeting, also, and we will mount them as one work which we will sell at the WVWS show in Sept.
John Singer Sargent Watercolors
I had planned to post a review of the book on this major exhibition, "John Singer Sargent Watercolors." Instead, here's a link to a review of the exhibit, along with some closeups:

The book includes a lot of information about JSS's techniques and materials. The book itself is fabulous.
Venues:
Brooklyn Museum until July 28
Boston Museum of Fine Arts, October 13--January 20, 2014
Houston, March 2--May 26, 2014
I plan to see it in Houston.
