Ivan Sulima, Ukranian illustrator
As seen on lines and colors blog: I absolutely love his foxes (not least because we have a pair of foxes who live in our ravine)!

Whites for oil painting
I found this lengthy studio note on Gamblin's white oil paints quite helpful:
http://www.gamblincolors.com/newsletters/getting-the-white-right.html
Since I've been doing mostly watercolors of late, white paint is not something I think about much (except for maybe a little white gouache), but I do consider whether I want to paint a particular subject on paper that is a natural white OR a white white.
There are other studio notes of interest to oil painters on the Gamblin website as well.

Alexis Lavine
Perusing Cheap Joe's workshops landed me on Lavine's site. She's a watercolor artist with a bit of a different perspective. I especially like the paintings in her Galleries--All the Rest.

Chris Dunn, illustrator
Lines and Colors featured Chris Dunn yesterday, in particular Dunn's series of paintings (watercolor and gouache) inspired by The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame. My girls loved this book!
Here's a lovely peaceful example:

Christmas Holiday "Soiree!"
This has been a very good year for the Wabash Valley Artists Society. We have had great monthly programs, a very successful juried show in September, a profitable fundraiser garage sale in May and fun paint outs. We will end the year with a fun evening together at the home of Jerie Artz. All are invited to come and share in the yummy refreshements, card exchange and white elephant gift fun! RSVP: artzjerie@gmail.com
