Rena Brouwer - Guest Artist for March WVAS Program
A program of play and design! Rena will be doing several demos to help “jump start” the creative process and define approach and painting design. Once the demos are complete she will have a short Q & A session and then will challenge participants to use this creative approach on their own and submit their work for viewing at the May meeting. Also, any work you’ve created after viewing Rena’s creative approaches, can also be shared during a “show and share” and gentle critique at the 5/18/21 meeting.https://www.renabrouwer.com/

She is a:
SIGNATURE MEMBER OF
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN ARTISTS,
INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF ACRYLIC PAINTERS,
NORTHWEST WATERCOLOR SOCIETY,
THE STATE WATERCOLOR SOCIETIES
OF:
FLORIDA,
NORTH CAROLINA AND
MONTANA
Her artist's statement:
My art is influenced by my imagination and love of photography which is where I jump start my creativity. I like to step beyond the reality of what I see preferring to paint my feelings through my use of color. My goal is to allow my emotions to mix with inspiration and create a fusion of style.
My “Fearless” methods of painting involves pouring numerous layers of watercolor, acrylics
and sometimes using collage papers. All of these layers allow me to create cloaks of mystery; therby redirecting my interpretation of reality. Eventually my feelings, pours and the patterns that I have created, transform my imagination to become a painting inspired by passion’s gift.

Adam Long - Nature Sculpture
Covid has not crimped our style! Zoom has opened up opportunities so we are not limited to local artists for programs. Be sure to mark your calendar for November 17 - Adam Long from St. Charles, Missouri will share from his studio his wonderful Nature Sculpture art. You won't want to miss this! November 17, 2020, 7:00 - 8:30 pm. Members will receive email links.
Humankind tends to view itself as separated from and above its environment. My work is ultimately about humanity and explores our connection to nature, our place in it and how we seek to explore and understand our environment. My sculptures examine many facets of what it means to be human while, hopefully, bringing nature back to us by using natural and man-made found objects. We are not apart from nature, but a part of it.

Patrick Flaherty October 20th, 2020 program
Patrick Flaherty was the juror for our present TAF exhibit. He took the time to write comments for each painting that was entered. He also commented on the use of Indiana local color and the observation that other colors could be used. We are intrigued but his comments. He has consented to bring us a virtual program, October 20, at 7:00. The link will be provided. It should be a very interesting evening.
